Challenge Enterprises Honored as an Outstanding Employer at DEAC 2021

2021 Disability Employment Awareness Celebration

Since 1945, the Disability Employment Awareness Celebration (DEAC) has been a national campaign that celebrates the many and varied contributions of workers with disabilities and reminds employers of the importance of inclusive hiring practices.

Challenge Enterprises was among the nine outstanding employers honored by the Florida Department of Education, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Division of Blind Services and the Able Trust at this year’s event held on September 28th.

Last year, VR served 476 businesses and assisted 5,055 Floridians with becoming successfully employed. Challenge Enterprises’ contribution to this success was the employment of 259 individuals with a disability, working 180,140 hours and earning just under $3M in wages.

It is not just finding a job but helping people find a career that aligns with their individual strengths, interests, abilities, perspectives, aptitude, and priorities. These employers’ commitment and support provide much more than income; they provide community connection and purpose for employees and open their company to a new level of support from customers and other businesses that value inclusion.
