Grace Martin recently graduated from Fleming Island High School. This summer, Grace accepted an internship with Challenge Enterprises. This opportunity was not the first time Grace was introduced to the mission of Challenge Enterprises. Several of her family members have been employed by or have supported this agency, making Challenge Enterprises a major part of her childhood.
In July, Grace joined the efforts of the Adult Day Training (ADT) Program in Green Cove Springs. In the warehouse, Grace helped to sew trauma packets for the Safariland contract, as well as assisted in filling baskets for Basketlife. Individuals who attend ADT worked with Grace on daily living skills, basic skills, social skills, and arts and crafts. Even the daily operations of the Snack Shack were graced with her presence. (pun intended).
When asked about her experience at Challenge Enterprises, she said the individuals at ADT were sweet and welcoming and made her feel very comfortable. “We became like family. The more you get to know someone, the more brilliant they become,” explained Grace.
Grace started cosmetology school on September 13th. In celebration of this next step in life, the members of ADT hosted a sendoff party wishing her all the best on her road to working at This & That Salon in Orange Park.
