Challenge Enterprises has been a partner with Clay County to distribute commodities to eligible citizens for the past 20+ years. Our partnership with Farm Share and Feeding Northeast Florida coordinates efforts to ensure Clay County citizens have groceries and healthy choices including but not limited to fresh produce, meat, bakery, frozen foods, dry goods, and more. Currently, this program serves 300 families through our distribution sites in Keystone Heights, Middleburg, Clay Hill, Orange Park, and Green Cove Springs.
ABOUT FARM SHARE:
Farm Share is Florida’s homegrown food bank. Founded for and by Floridians, Farm Share has been serving those under food insecurity since 1991 with the simple but innovative idea to recover crops from Florida farmers in order to distribute fresh and nutritious food to Floridians in need. Its mission is to make sure that no Floridian goes hungry, and no food goes to waste.
ABOUT FEEDING NORTHEAST FLORIDA:
Feeding Northeast Florida helps local children, families, seniors, and active and retired military members who struggle to put food on the table. Working with retail partners, manufacturers, and farms they rescue high-quality food that would normally be wasted and transform it into meals for those in need.
CHALLENGE ENTERPRISES OPERATIONS:
Challenge Enterprises has on-site walk-in coolers, a walk-in freezer, a mobile refrigeration trailer with a generator, a loading dock, a warehouse, and a team of employees and volunteers able to handle large-scale distribution. Food items arrive in mass from our partners at Farm Share and Feeding Northeast Florida. Our team of employees and volunteers break down the pallets, and sort and repack these items for distribution. All of our distribution sites are drive-thru sites, allowing those receiving food to stay in the comfort of their vehicles. Up-to-date information about this program and distribution events can be found on the Food for Clay County Facebook page.
