Gear Up Florida 2024: A Journey of Acceptance and Understanding

Since 1997, over 500 Pi Kappa Phi men have participated in Gear Up Florida, a remarkable journey created with one mission in mind: to reach out to as many people as possible across the state of Florida, spreading a message of acceptance and understanding on behalf of people with disabilities.

The Journey: Miami – Tallahassee | 15 Days | 950 Miles

One state, countless memories. This 950-mile cycling event kicks off on the shores of Miami, travels through the Florida orange fields, reaches the Gulf Coast, passes through Orlando, returns to the Atlantic coast in Jacksonville, and culminates at the State Capitol in Tallahassee. Throughout the journey, the team spreads a message of acceptance and understanding to communities across Florida through newspapers, radio, television, civic groups, and community leaders, reaching millions of people annually.

Details on the Friendship Visit

This year, Challenge Enterprises had the honor of hosting 50 Gear Up Florida cyclists and crew members. Club Challenge, the Adult Day Training Program, and Gear Up Florida shared an exciting experience at Camp Chowenwaw Park in Clay County, made possible by the support of the Greiner Family Foundation. All guests enjoyed a meal from the Rollin Stoves followed by a field day at the park. It was a celebration of inclusion and camaraderie that everyone looks forward to year after year. A special shout-out goes to the volunteer group, including the team from DGPerry, for their incredible effort in making it look easy to host a luncheon for 150 guests.
