Food Bank vs. Food Pantry: What’s the Difference?

The terms food bank and food pantry are often used interchangeably, but they serve different roles in the fight against hunger.

  • Food Bank: A nonprofit organization that collects, stores, and distributes large quantities of food to communities.
  • Food Pantry: A local site where individuals and families can go to receive free food directly.

Food for Clay County operates as a food bank, serving as a central hub for food collection and distribution while assisting local food pantries across Clay County.
