RECREATION

Challenge Enterprises believes it is important to have a balance between work and recreation. Opportunities are available for all individuals to participate in recreational activities on a regular basis. The activities requested provide a variety for good, safe, and fun healthy living.

Cycling, bowling, dances, and golf are some of the more popular past times. Many individuals have gained the skills necessary to compete in selected events at the Special Olympics. Themed dances are held on the second Friday of each month. The Civitan Club of Clay County, PUSH America, area church groups, and civic centers all provide support for these exciting activities.

  • Cycling – Many individuals enjoy cycling after work and on the weekends.
  • Golf – Individuals have the opportunity to practice their golf skills at the Fleming Island Golf Club’s practice ranges. Instruction and guidance is provided for putting, driving, chipping and pitching. Competition in each skill is offered through Special Olympics.
  • Bowling – Every Tuesday evening individuals practice their bowling skills at Bowl America in Orange Park.
  • Dances – Themed dances 2nd Friday of most months

CLUB CHALLENGE (COMING SOON 2014)

Club Challenge is a social program for persons with disabilities who enjoy meeting new people, participating in recreational activities or are seeking activities in their early retirement years. The mission of Club Challenge is to promote the power of social engagement for individuals seeking friendships.

Challenge Enterprises will plan and implement activities of interest for young and older adults who are working, preparing for retirement, in job training, or on a waiting list for services. The activities will be scheduled during the day and evening hours to meet the individuals needs and desires. There will be modest fees for specific activities that take place at the bowling center, movie theater, golf course, game rooms, and short bus rides. There are also more relaxed activities for those who prefer the laid back social time such as visits to the library, theater, and local concerts.

Challenge Enterprises will offer training to all individuals interested in using the Clay Transit system.
