Lighthouse Learning Center offers structured preschool education for all children 12 months to 5 years and free Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten to all 4 year olds. The children enrolled have varied abilities. Children with disabilities (i.e. Downs Syndrome, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Hearing or Visually impaired or are delayed), and other typically developing children all learn in an inclusive environment. Children attending Lighthouse have structured programming with a developmentally appropriate curriculum to meet the educational goals for school readiness.

The facility is also home to on-site Therapy services (Physical, Occupational and Speech Pathology), nursing assistance and support services from the Clay County School District. All the staff at the facility provides a nurturing and family-oriented environment for the pre-K student. The educational staff is qualified to meet the needs of each child and is certified by the State of Florida Department of Children and Family Services, Department of Education and the Clay County School Board.
Parents are involved in their child’s education by participating in the development of Individual Education Plans and in school activities such as a Fall Festival, holiday celebrations and community events. Once you walk into the Lighthouse facility, it is apparent this school is very child-friendly. Striving to always be creative, each classroom in the school has a unique theme based on identities of fun fish characters; Parrotfish, Butterfly, Seahorse, Angelfish, Dolphin, Sunfish, Starfish, and Stingray. The fun-loving school mascot, Leo the Lighthouse, keeps watch over the different classrooms in the school. Classrooms have size appropriate chairs, tables, cubbies, and specially designed restrooms suitable for potty training.

The preschool also has a sensory room that provides just the right level of stimulation needed for the children to learn.  The fundamental goal for each student is academic and social preparation for Kindergarten. The highlight of the year for Lighthouse students and families is “Graduation Day” recognizing achievement and readiness to enter Clay County’s “Big School” Kindergarten. Please continue to watch us grow!
